hungry? why wait?
yeah, i said it...

yeah, i said it...

no, this is not a post about my love affair with snickers (though i do love them).

but the marketers behind snickers were on to something when they developed this slogan. i’m not an avid chocolate lover so it never really applied to me on the snickers bar. plus i’m a lover of REAL food, not a temporary fix. but this is actually a theme throughout my life.

in the past 2-3 weeks, i’ve become increasingly frustrated with women. not just black women or stupid women or successful women. just women period. why? because, we settle and we wait for things to come to us. this is a huge generalization and i see this and understand that it’s not ALL women but most of us.

here’s a current situation with a friend of mine that is KILLING me:

“jen” has been in a relationship with “matt” for 5 years now. they still live separately and there has been no “big” question popped either though they’ve talked about marriage. she’s frustrated because she wants to know if they are in fact moving towards that direction in life or not. see, she’s 35 and wants to start a family soon because her biological clock is ticking loudly in her head. he won’t talk to her about their direction. he’s done a couple things recently that she doesn’t like. last night they had the “big talk” and still no resolution. so now she’s crying at home writing him a letter giving him yet another “this is final” talk.

WHY DO WE DO THIS?!?!?! men don’t do this for us! if you are truly hungry for your future and what it holds, why wait on someone else who it’s apparently not as important to? and why wait for him to blatantly say all the things that his actions have already said!?!? on top of the fact that there have been things that he’s done that make you uncomfortable!!!!

ugh… the amount of settling that people (not just women) do is crazy to me. why must we wait for this seemingly perfect person? if you’re hungry for something in life, go for it! take hold of your future and stop leaving it in someone else’s hands for them to manhandle and you to pick the pieces up later!!!

in 2010, we all need to do better. the sky is not even the limit and we all deserve the best. people always tell me that i’m spoiled. yes, i am… i spoil myself. and as my best friend terrence pointed out, we’re all pieces of God so why wouldn’t we spoil ourselves and demand the best?

that is all…

xoxo
