product review: my love affair with lush

lush-250x250

it’s true… i’m in love and it’s with lush products. what’s lush? you ask. well, lush is a line of all natural, fresh handmade hair, body, and face products. the thing that has sparked me to profess my undying love and affection for their products now is due to the weather. it’s wintertime and everyone is suffering the effects. i’m going to review 3 of their products that have kept me soft and moisturized thus far.

hair:

i have curly hair and just because it’s cold outside does not mean my locks get a rest from getting washed every other day. during the winter time especially my hair struggles with maintaining moisture. i began using lush’s “curly wurly” after my trip to new orleans and now understand why it’s considered one of their guilty pleasures. 02686i was skeptical at first because i’m not one to spend $20 on a shampoo for my hair because my hair practically eats shampoo and conditioner. but after one use, i couldn’t keep my hands out of my hair. the greatest thing to me was that the next day, my hair still felt moisturized AND i needed no conditioner! the only downfall for this tub of heaven is the coconut pieces that get caught in your locks. but if you wait until your hair is semi-dry and fluff around, all the coconut will come out. i use this followed with some pure olive oil and my hair is beautifully moisturized for days!

face:

since pregnancy has hit, i’ve been struggling with what will manage my sudden onset of breakouts without drying it out. my skin has gone through so many changes since puberty that i can’t even keep up with whether it’s oily, dry, or combination. all i know is that i HATE breakouts. i was using lush’s chamomile soap to try and calm my skin down and then i was using the charcoal soap to clarify it. those worked nicely but not like their “herbalism”. i will never use another facial product again. the texture is weird but it works wonders on my skin. after the first use there was an apparent difference in my skin and i haven’t had a breakout since. using this followed by some dove facial moisturizer with spf keeps my skin nice and balanced and break out free.

body:

i don’t know about you guys, but not only the cold, but the dry air coming from the heat that’s consistently on is KILLING my skin! the lotions that once lasted for 24 hours last a mere 8 hours now. 02127

so what’s my solution? lush’s “buffy”. using this in the shower does a couple things. first it works as a great exfoliator. sloughing off the dry, dead skin is imperative during this time of year. but even better then just exfoliating by itself is that it works as a moisturizer as well. this is wonderful because it gives my skin it’s first layer of moisture. i used to be an avid sugar/salt scrub user because of the oils that serve as the base. but it leaves a residue in the tub and makes things slippery in there. it’s dangerous enough me having this big ole belly but i can’t add anymore to make it easier for me to fall.

using this in the shower and then lotioning when you dry off gives you layers of moisture that the cold nor dry air can penetrate!

i hope these things can help you like they’ve helped me!

xoxo
